5 Baltimore-Based Bands You Should Be Listening to in 2020

It’s easy to only listen to nationally or internationally known bands and forget about the talent in your own backyard. Even if you’re not from the Baltimore area, here are five bands founded in Baltimore that you should be listening to in 2020.

War on Women

War on Women is a politically charged, feminist, hardcore punk band formed in 2011. Their aggressive sound and feminist lyrics are very similar to the riot grrrl movement of the 1990s, and the bands that were popular during that time.

For fans of: Sharptooth, Bikini Kill

See them: You can see them on tour supporting Bad Religion and Alkaline Trio in the spring; they’ll be in Silver Spring, Maryland on April 7. The full list of tour dates and tickets can be found here.

Formed in 2010, Turnstile pulls inspiration from punk and metalcore, blending it with traditional hardcore to create their own version of hardcore punk. There’s also apparent influences of soul, psychedelia, and R&B within their music – an unlikely combination that creates some very catchy songs.

For fans of: Knocked Loose, Harms Way

See them: Turnstile will be touring Europe in the spring, but they have no upcoming U.S. tour dates. The full list of tour dates and tickets can be found here.
